Riley took another trip today! Well, actually it was yesterday after my humans went to bed. Again, I carefully sneaked out of the pink and purple room and climbed into Riley's bag. This trip, he took a much more roomy bag, so I had time to explore it and see what was inside.
I noticed that on this trip he didn't have to bring any of that pesky, heavy body armor. That made me happy. It meant that the place where we're going is more safe than when Riley traveled to Afghanistan. I also thought it was strange that even though he is traveling in December, that he didn't bring any warm clothes. Instead he had a bunch of t-shirts and even some shorts. I thought for sure that Riley was going to be very cold on this trip.
After a long car ride, then a really long flight, and then another car ride, I felt my bag's zipper getting opened. I seized the opportunity to scurry out of the bag and to explore this strange new place Riley had traveled to. The first thing I noticed was how hot it was and how wet the air was. It felt like summer. Did we travel for so long that we missed winter entirely!? That'd be great!
A few minutes later a human came into the room and welcomed everybody to Honduras. Honduras! I'd heard of this place before. Honduras is the place that the lots of bananas in my humans' kitchen came from. I'm bananas for bananas, which means I'm bananas for Honduras! Riley took me to the right place. The humans also mentioned that Honduras is hot all year long and that it's still December. This was good news, because I really want to be back at home with my human girls for Christmas.
After a few minutes of talking, the humans went to some place called the DFAC. I think that's where they eat their food, because they were talking about dinner when they left. That gave me a few minutes to explore. I sneaked out from my hiding place and immediately noticed a shiny little wing floating down from the ceiling. I scurried up the wall and across the ceiling from where it came from and saw a bunch of little holes. Listening closely, I heard some chomping noises that sounded familiar. TERMITES!!!! There are lots of termites in this ceiling eating the hot, damp wood. That's great news for me, because I love tasty termites. Honduras is getting better and better! I have all the termites AND bananas that I could possibly eat.
After snacking on termites for a bit, I decided to wander outside. I didn't stay long, because the first thing I saw were some yellowish eyes under the building next door. I looked closer and saw a skunk! I don't like skunks. They're smelly and mean. So I went back inside and hoped that Riley and his human friends didn't get sprayed by the stinky skunk.
Riley came back from dinner with his human friends. They said something about banana flavored soda. Riley said it tasted funny, but I'd like to give it a try. After all, anything banana-flavored must be delicious. He didn't say anything about the skunk, so I don't think he knows it's there yet. Hopefully he doesn't find out about it the bad way.
It's bedtime now. I heard Riley mention something about a plane when they were talking about tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to see it...
